FIJET Americas

During the 2016 World Congress of the International Federation of Tourism Journalists and Travel Writers (FIJET) held in Tunisia the first association with members from Latin America, USA and Canada was constituted and approved. Since there was not an association within the Americas. FIJET Americas was formed and approved in 2016 during a Congress in Tunisia.

The main objective is the promotion of tourism between the Americas and the world. Elected as the first president was Mrs. Maria Elena Paredes, a professional with extensive experience as a journalist and tourism professional.

FIJET Americas is a professional entity represented by all sectors of tourism, journalism, and communication.  FIJET Americas carries out a program of activities linking the Americas and the world benefiting the tourism sector and familiarizing communicators through meetings, congresses, technical conferences, and meetings with tourism professionals. Encouraging the specialization of young journalists in tourism through the "Young Journalists Program".

FIJET Americas is affiliated to the International Federation of Tourism Journalists and Writers, known by its acronym, F. I. J. E. T.  created in Paris, France as an association of tourism writers in 1954. Today it is composed of national associations and individual members in those countries where there is no constituted National Association. It currently has more than 700 members in 35 countries.  FIJET International is affiliated to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), a member with B status to UNESCO, affiliated to the Universal Federation of the Association of Travel Agents, and is a member of the International Tourism Council and the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation.

FIJET-Americas members have participated and many Congresses and meetings around the world. We all have integrated, and we continue following FIJET mission of promote tourism around the world.
